What are Guides?

Guides are step-by-step interactive instructions that walk you through processes and flows. You can create guides for any website using the Sidekick Chrome Extension.

Here's an example of a guide:

This guide combines screenshots, click locations, text, and links to create a step-by-step guide for creating a process rule.

Guides are easy to create and even easier to use!

How To Create a Guide

There are 2 ways to create a guide. You can do so from the card builder (recommended), or from the chrome extension directly.

Let's walk through each.

From the Card Builder

  1. In a tab: Prepare the flow you want to record.

    1. Be on the right page to start

    2. Have a game plan for how you're going to record

  2. In another tab: Navigate to build a card

  3. Click "Insert a Guide" icon

  4. Choose to record your tab

  5. Record your guide

  6. Give the guide a title and save it when done

  7. You will be directed back to Supered and your guide will be embedded in the card

From the Extension

You can record directly from the extension, but you'll need to add the guide to a card manually.

  1. Prepare the flow you want to record

    1. Be on the right page to start

    2. Have a game plan for how you're going to record

  2. Open the Supered Sidekick extension (click button on bottom-right of page, or click the logo in the extension bar)

  3. Click "Guides"

  4. Click "Record New Guide"

  5. Record your guide

  6. Give the guide a title and save it when done

  7. (Optional) Embed the guide in a card. Follow the steps 2-4 in the "From the Card Builder" section above

    1. Select "Use Existing Guide" instead

    2. Find and confirm your guide

How To Use a Guide

Guides can be used inside of cards (recommended) or standalone. We recommend guides inside of cards because it gives you the ability to include context with the guide, is embeddable in HubSpot and other apps, and appears in search.

Here's what an embedded guide looks like:

You can view the guide in a step-by-step mode, or a scrolling mode:

How To Export a Guide (PDF)

When a guide is inside of a card, you can export it to a PDF.

  1. Navigate to the card in the Supered backend

  2. Click "Share"

  3. Select "Export to PDF"

  4. Your PDF will be downloaded within a few seconds.
